about

Origins and identity are at the very center of how we as a species understand and interpret the world around us and our particular place in that world within other worlds.
For one to renounce or outgrow these identifying markers or more to the point, to have them removed, to be cast out so to speak and undergo a sort of existential exodus where you lose your ideologies, identification and maybe even yourself and your reference points home is no small thing.
This "diaspora" if allowed, deconstructs and redefines our understanding of origins and identity and alters the ego so as to have a deeper perspective of meaning and life and who we are both individually as well as collectively. I suspect I'm not finished in these cyclical departures. I hope I am not done.
For me Act 1. addresses loss, profound hurt and disorientating loss of meaning or context.
As a writer for the piece I have the benefit of now having hope in the midst of loss and suffering. I hope you can find hope in who you are and who you will be even if in the middle of loss and new beginnings.

The bones of Zion began to be knit together with sinew sometime around 2019.
Initially consisting of rudimentary arrangements, Zion quickly became a personal obsession and much more involved in it's instrumentation and composition.
In short, what started as my most personal work dug out during early morning reflections and meditations, ended up evolving into musical creations I felt compelled to write myself out of.
The four "Acts" or movements have been brought to life by a tremendous collective of talented creators and musicians, each artist writing and arranging their own interpretation of the instrumental corpus.
Act 1. The Diaspora, invites you to enter through the exit.
